PhilCOAST and DENR hosted a training workshop on coastal and marine spatial planning.
Participants from various sectors attended the first coastal and marine spatial planning training-workshop hosted by PhilCOAST and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) thru its Biodiversity Management Bureau or BMB. The activity was held in a virtual platform from November 8-12, 2021. More than 100 participants attended the said activity which aims to revisit and discuss the current situation of Manila Bay. Researchers of PhilCOAST, head of concern agencies from the government, and experts from the University of Maryland- Center for Environmental Science were invited as well to give talks in the first day on various issues facing the sustainability of Manila Bay and ways to move forward. The remaining four days were focused more in coming up a comprehensive spatial mapping on critical habitats, land and coastal classifications, and even threats, which were done in a participatory manner.
